ASUS Antibacterial Guard protects every moment with your laptop

A family

The era of Covid-19 has made us all more susceptible to disease-causing pathogens. Although we have stopped wiping our groceries with bleach, we are washing our hands more frequently. And many of us still habitually grab a mask on the way out. Unfortunately, when it comes to preventing the growth and spread of bacteria, many of us forget about the devices we touch throughout the day. To give you peace of mind when using your laptop, ASUS Antibacterial Guard works invisibly to inhibit the growth of potentially harmful bacteria.*

You might be surprised to learn where the highest concentrations of bacteria hide in a typical household. So used to seeing our laptop as our portal to the outside world of work and friends, we sometimes forget how much time we spend with our hands on it. But how often do we remember to clean it? ASUS Antibacterial Guard puts an end to that worry with special treatment on all parts of the laptop that users touch most frequently, including the keyboard, touchpad, palm rest area, and fingerprint sensor. digital. For 2022, you’ll find Antibacterial Guard on a wide range of Zenbook and Vivobook laptops.

Antibacterial Guard protects the most vulnerable surfaces in your home

In the past, local news regularly warned viewers of daily threats. One of their favorites was the common kitchen sponge used to wash dishes and wipe down countertops. These sponges had the most bacteria of any household item, more than refrigerator doors, toothbrushes, or even toilet bowls. Today, however, the kitchen sponge’s reputation as a hidden danger has a potential challenger in the humble laptop.

Hands on a laptop keyboard

Consider a surprising data point. A typical laptop keyboard has 20,000 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.** If this surprises you, remember that surface bacteria picked up by our hands naturally accumulates where we touch most. Also remember that the hours we spend thinking on keyboards are simultaneously spent breathing, coughing or even sneezing. Even a single airborne droplet can contain health risks, but most laptops lack basic protections against bacteria.

Our Antibacterial Guard prevents the growth of microbial parasites with a silver ion coating. The positive charge of silver ions attracts the negative charge of microbes in the same way that a kitchen magnet sticks to your fridge. On contact, silver ions pierce the surface of bacterial cells, scrambling their structure and preventing them from reproducing. Scientific tests show that Antibacterial Guard inhibits the growth of bacteria on plastics and other non-porous surfaces by over 99%.

Antibacterial Guard meets laboratory standards

To ensure the treatment’s effectiveness, an independent lab tested it to strict ISO 22196 standards. Lab scientists pitted Antibacterial Guard against two of the most common household bacteria, Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Staphylococcus aureus, or “staphylococcus”. These bacteria are responsible for several common ailments that disrupt daily life – you won’t find worse housemates than these two bacteria.

Scientists tested the growth potential of these common household bacteria with and without ASUS Antibacterial Guard. After a 24-hour incubation period in a warm environment, the number of bacteria on untreated surfaces nearly tripled from 10,000 to 28,000. During the same period, treated surfaces limited bacterial growth less than sixteen. This difference in bacterial growth exceeds 99%. More importantly, the two bacteria tested behave exactly like thousands of other bacteria. In other words, you can expect Antibacterial Guard to have a 99% inhibitory effect on almost all known bacterial threats.

Antibacterial Guard doesn’t just resist harmful bacteria. It is also resistant to common household cleaners, which do not easily wear down the silver ion surface treatment. You can have peace of mind when wiping away dust and debris because Antibacterial Guard is designed to last at least three years of normal use.

We kept the whole line

Every time you sit down for a three-hour work session on your laptop, a lot of things cross your mind. As you finally close the lid on another completed project, you can easily forget that your fingers have just spent hours on a surface that has tremendous germ-spreading potential. And while you were working, how many times did you touch your face, chin, or even your lips and mouth without thinking?

Such risks multiply if there are other people in your household who use your laptop. Does your partner also connect to the notebook? How often do children play games on the device? How careful are these people to wash their hands or rub their sticky fingers before starting? ASUS Antibacterial Guard protects you all by stopping the masses of microbes on your laptop from breeding in the first place.

*Tested by an independent third-party laboratory according to ISO 22196 (Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces). ISO 22196:2011 specifies a method for evaluating the antibacterial activity of antibacterial treated plastics and other non-porous surfaces of products (including intermediate products). ASUS Antibacterial Guard is applied to areas of the laptop that users touch most frequently, including the palm rest area, keyboard, and touchpad (or ASUS NumberPad).
